A special project
of the John Kennedy and Harry Truman funds, Organizing
for Washington is a grassroots organization dedicated
to increasing voter turnout in support of candidates
for state and local office in the November 2014
elections. OFW will equip volunteers with the tools
and training necessary to build relationships with
voters in their neighborhoods.
Organizing for Washington is
currently seeking Campaign Interns. This
position is intended for individuals with a strong
desire to positively impact the future of Washington
state through concentrated, goal-driven voter contact
and outreach activities. Interns must be able to sustain
a friendly, customer-service oriented attitude towards
volunteers, be a proficient multi-taskers, demonstrate
leadership qualities, and be willing to work in a
dynamic, fast-paced, people-oriented work environment.
Specific duties of the position
include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting Field Organizers in the recruitment and retention of a volunteer workforce, both over the phone and in-person
- Participating in daily voter contact activities such as phonebanking and door-to-door canvassing
- Collecting,
organizing and data-entering all materials related to
voter contact activities
- Ability to
work with local partners to find resources in the
community and a willingness to ask for help from
others
- Comfort working in online computer environments, and a basic proficiency in Word and Excel
