Study food sovereignty in Oaxaca, Mexico this Summer!

Want to study in Latin America this summer?
Interested in issues of food sovereignty, migration, and social justice?

6 Credit Study Abroad Program, Summer A-Term 2015

Sponsored by UW Urban Design and Planning

Oaxaca, Mexico is home to sixteen indigenous groups, and suffers from enormous rates of migration to northern Mexico and the US as people search for work and better lives for their families. A beautiful and complex physical and social landscape, it is a perfect site to explore issues of how American foreign policy (agriculture, trade, immigration, drug) impacts the Global South. By visiting villages, markets, and the countryside, students on this program will learn how food, mobility, and social justice make up a web of interconnected issues in this region.

This program is open to all undergraduate majors, as well as graduate students from Built Environments programs.

Application deadline: Feb. 20th
