The University of Washington International Security Colloquium (UWISC) welcomes Kristin Bakke, Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at University College London. Kristin will present a talk titled "From War-Making to State-Making in the post-Soviet de facto States " . UW Political Science PhD student Emily Gade will act as discussant. Her paper is attached.

Dr. Bakke holds a PhD and MA in political science from the University of Washington, as well as a BA in journalism and political science from Indiana University, Bloomington. Prior to joining University College London, Dr. Bakke was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University and an Assistant professor in political science at Leiden University. She has also been a Research Associate at the Peace Research Institute, Oslo.
