Apply for the Political Science Honors program! Deadline is Friday, April 24th.

The Department of Political Science is accepting applications for the Political Science Honors Program for the 2015-16 academic year.  To be considered for admission to the program, students must meet the following requirements:
-major in Political Science
-five courses in political science (may have four courses completed with the fifth in progress when submitting the application)
-minimum 3.5 GPA in the Political Science major
-minimum 3.3 overall GPA
-completion of 90 credits minimum (i.e. junior standing) by the start of Autumn Quarter 2015 (sophomores may apply for their junior year)

The Honors Program is a program of advanced study in political science for undergraduates who wish to pursue a more challenging course of study in their junior or senior year.  The program provides students with a thorough understanding of the interdisciplinary bases of the study of politics.  Students accepted into the program take Pol S 398 (Honors Seminar) in autumn 2015 and must complete two additional 400-level seminars chosen from a departmental list. The 400-level seminars may be taken at any time but must be completed by spring 2016. Students earn 5 credits for each seminar, a total of 15 credits, and the seminars may count toward major requirements.  Additionally, students write an honors thesis (POL S 488-489) during winter and spring quarters.  Thesis credits do not count toward the major, but they do count as W-courses.

Students completing this program will earn 'Honors in Political Science' at graduation.  Students who are in the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program, as well as in the Political Science Honors Program, will earn 'College Honors in Political Science' at graduation.

The deadline is Friday, April 24th.
